Global Warming?

We're all aware that not all scientists agree with the idea that we're in an accelerated, catastrophic period of global warming. With stories like this, I sometimes wonder what all the fuss is about. It seems to me like we're in a normal environmental shift coming out of an ice age. Not to mention the fact that we're in one of the coldest periods in all of Earth's history, and that we've been warmer even in the recent past. The Roman era and the Middle Ages were both warmer than now. Besides, even if we are artificially heating up the earth, would we rather another ice age? I didn't think so.

Temperatures dropped well below zero Saturday across the Northeast, making it the coldest day in a decade for some cities and keeping all but the hardiest people indoors.

Boston's Logan International Airport recorded a low of 3 below zero, two degrees chillier than the previous record for Jan. 10, set in 1875. It was the city's coldest day since Jan. 16, 1994, when thermometers registered 4 below.

Other record lows included 19 below zero at Montpelier, Vt.; 16 below at Syracuse, N.Y.; 7 below at Scranton, Pa.; and 2 below at Bridgeport, Conn., according to the National Weather Service.

While the East Coast is experiencing nothing but freeze, the weather in LA has been abnormally high. This weekend some parts of LA were in the 80s - in the middle of January! I love LA. Too bad you're freezing your butt off but I'll be thinking of you tomorrow while I'm getting a tan at the beach :)

Lubbock has been having the "warm winter" thing as well. Although not quite as benevolently as CA. We're normally in the teens (at least) right now (not to mention December). Instead, we've oscillated frequently between 32 and 62. Quick shifts, too.
