LOTD: Rain

The weather here is very ... versatile. It varies from warm and sunny to overcast, rainy, and cold in minutes. Now, I love rain, but what's aggravating is that it doesn't rain so much as it drizzles - sporadically. It rarely full on rains. And when water does fall from the sky, it does so in short spurts. Literally lasting only minutes.

I want an actual rainstorm (while I'm at home of course, not while I'm in vehicle-less transit). I want to be able to sit and hear the pounding of real rain, not the annoying static of half-hearted mini-rain. Perhaps I should be careful what I wish for.

What I personally miss are the thunderstorms. One of my earliest childhood memories is sitting in front of the window, and watching (and listening to) the zigzagging bolts of searing blue light that are coming down (well, mostly arcing between clouds) multiple times a second. I haven't had that much fun in years. I saw a thunderstorm in Berkeley though, that was pretty cool but not as spectacular.

Del Rio, Tx had some good thunderstorms.

Texas, in general, has a lot of those retarded mini-rains. I hate it. But when it does start pouring, the rain drops are the size of marbles. It's great.

Berkeley!!

Did you actually graduate from Berkely or did you just live there? Either one explains a lot.

Me I grew up in the south, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina. I never graduated from college, guess that explains a lot too. Thunderstorms happen in minutes and then they are gone. St. Petersburg, Florida is the lightening capital of the world. But I think th worst rain I was in was in Columbus Georgia, I was driving and it just started pouring, I couldn't see 6 feet in front of my car, I was on a freeway and to afraid to pull over because I couldn't see what was there. To afraid to stop for fear of someone rear ending me, so I just drove slow and prayed.

I have also been in a few hurricanes but thats another story.

Yes, I did graduate... But unfortunately, I was a transfer student, so all I had time for was EECS. Didn't even have time find out if my professors were liberal or not :-)

Hurricanes... I always wanted to see one :-/
